Lawyers from Russia continue their training in the European Court

Yesterday vice-chairperson of the INGO Committee Against Torture Olga Sadovskaya was present at the hearing of the case “Berden and Berden v. UK” by the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights. Participants of the training program also had a meeting with a member of ECHR where they discussed issues of examination of cases by the Court and the decision-making process. Besides, participants paid special attention to the problem of ratification of Protocol 14 by the Russian Federation and discussed the possible outcomes. Apart from that the participants had a meeting with an officer of the Court’s decision execution department where they raised the issue the execution of decisions by Russia as realization of generic and specific measures. In the course of the meeting the case of Mikheev was discussed in view of the fact that Russia had not yet implemented generic measures concerning this case. The Organizations, represented by the participants were invited to submit their recommendations and comments to the Committee of Ministers concerning Russia’s execution of decisions passed by the Court. Furthermore Ms Sadovskaya took part in the discussion initiated by the head of the Council’s of Europe department of interstate communications concerning problems of development of human rights dimension in the framework of the Council of Europe.
