Yesterday personnel of the multiregional NGO “Committee against Torture” participated in the 12^th annual session of young scholars from Nizhny Novgorod region that takes place from the 21^st till the 25^th of October. The Law workshop of this session is traditionally attended by representatives of leading law schools of Nizhny Novgorod: law department of Nizhny Novgorod State University named after Lobachevsky, Nizhny Novgorod Academy under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nizhny Novgorod Law Academy, etc. Lawyers of the Committee against Torture specializing in international law reported on the problem of ratification by Russia of Protocol 14 to the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms  , as well as effective investigation of police abuse complaints in accordance with the European Court of Human Rights requirements.
