Today at 2 p.m. the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court considers the appeal of Dmitry Andronov’s lawyer against the decision of the Pavlovo City Court to keep minor Dmitry Andronov in custody as judicial restraint.

You may remember that on 27 March 2007 judge A.S. Odintsov of Pavlovo City Court, having considered the motion of S.B. Lebedev, the prosecutor of Pavlovo City, ruled to take Dmitry Andronov into custody as judicial restraint.
On 29 March 2007 the defense filed an appeal to the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court.

The decision was reversed by the regional court on appeal. But the Pavlovo City Court for the second time ruled to take Dmitry Andronov into custody as judicial restraint. Experts of the NN Committee Against Torture, which are granting him legal aid, believe that the urge of law enforcers to put the boy in a detention center is caused by the revenge for his application to human rights defenders.

As you may know, Dmitry Andronov claims to have been violently beaten by Pavlovo policemen and prosecution officials which tried to extort a confession from him.
