The Bogorodsk City Court has brought in the verdict against the former policeman who took part in cruel treatment of the Kabanovs

Today, on the 29 March 2007 the Bogorodsk City Court has brought in the verdict against former policeman O.V. Akimov, who, as you may know, initiated new trial under the criminal case.

    The court found him guilty of arbitrariness (para. 1 art. 330 of the Criminal Code) and willful infliction of light injuries to health (para. 1 art. 115 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced him to a fine of 6,000 rubles.

    You may remember that Mr. Akimov was accused of cruel treatment of the Kabanovs in September 2005 which had taken place in Bogorodsk District of Nizhny Novgorod Region. 

    The NN Committee Against Torture carried out an unofficial investigation into the case, granted medical aid to the victims and represented them before the court. 

    As you know the sentences against Mr. Akimov’s accomplices (one of them was a policeman too) have already entered into force.
