Today the Sovietsky district court of Nizhny Novgorod chaired by judge Vladimir Kristovtsev satisfied the claim of Nizhny Novgorod pensioner Dmitriy Gorbulya and compensated him moral damages incurred by actions of the police.

Mr. Dmitriy Gorbulya, a pensioner from Nizhny Novgorod, will get 25 thousand rubles as compensation for being battered, as he claims, three years ago by police officers from the Nizhny Novgorod Department of Internal Affairs.
This was reported by Mr. Yuriy Sidorov, lawyer of the Committee against Torture, who represents the victim’s interests in court.
The police officers, who allegedly battered the pensioner, still do not face a criminal charge, despite all the efforts of the Committee against Torture. However, today’s judgment to some extent compensated the sufferings of the elderly man.
