Zarema’s attorney, Aleksandr Savin, indicated that on 11 April, an ambulance team was called for her to the colony premises because of unbearable pain in her leg. Zarema spoke about that pain back in March, however, according to the woman, no examinations were carried out in this regard. Zarema is only given painkillers, but the pain only increases. The attorney applied to the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Chechen Republic and asked for assistance in organizing the examinations the woman needed.

Besides, the attorney obtained the conclusion of the medical commission, which is necessary for the forthcoming court hearing. Earlier, Mr. Savin, citing available medical documents, motioned for Musayeva’s release from the correctional colony due to her illness. However, the medical commission that examined her concluded that Zarema did not have such diseases that are appropriate for the release.

Mr. Savin underlines the following: «Musayeva’s initial diagnosis indicated type 2 diabetes with multiple complications. She was diagnosed with it in August 2023. In the final protocol, this diagnosis was changed: it became type 2 diabetes mellitus without complications. Such diagnosis does not fall under the list of diseases that allows convicts to be released for health reasons.»

The attorney explained that regardless of the result of that examination, the City Court of Shali will examine the motion to release Ms. Musayeva for health reasons. The date of the hearing has not yet been set.
