Lie detectors are now more and more commonly used not only during investigations of crimes but also even during employment. Is it justifiable and effective? Lawyer with the Committee Against Torture Yuliya Balandina is answering this question.

Spoiler alert!

The specialists point out that the use of lie detectors later than six days after the incident of interest makes not the most precise results as they are absolutely useless due to peculiarities of the memory functioning in accordance with Ebbinghaus forgetting curve.

Curiously enough, but the voice of reason came from the Presidium of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, that passed a ruling, that lie detector data cannot be considered an evidence in the criminal case.
