An international seminar on protection of soldiers’ rights is held in Nizhny Novgorod

An international seminar for lawyers and leaders of human rights organizations under the project of legal protection for soldiers is held in Nizhny Novgorod on 5-6 February 2007.

Lawyers – representatives of the Committees of Soldiers’ Mothers (CSMs) from Nizhny Novgorod, Saint-Petersburg, Khabarovsk and Volgograd are being instructed in new methods, which help to optimize the activities on representation of interests of conscripts, soldiers and their relatives when protecting their rights and legitimate interests.

The regional Committee of Soldiers’ Mothers has become the organization which is holding the event in Nizhny Novgorod. In the framework of this project experts of the CSM who directly face the problems of defending rights and interests of citizens, connected with the military service, get necessary information and legal instructions which will help them increase effective protection of soldier’s rights.

Lawyers who specialize in domestic and European law from the NN Committee Against Torture and Research Center “Demos” (Moscow) are also taking part in the seminar.
