Committee Against Torture launches the project "Open Hall - Providing Access to Justice"

On 29 August 2013 the presentation of the project «Open Hall – Providing Access to Justice» will be held in the the library of Volga Branch of Russian Academy of Justice. The project is performed by the INGO «Committee Against Torture» in partnership with Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod and Russian Academy of Justice.

Within the framework of the project it is planned to establish a public library of legal information within Russian Academy of Science where anyone will find legal literature, laws and samples of applications and other documents. Visitors will be assisted by professional consultants. The project website www.otkrytyzal.ru will be launched in the near future. It will provide access to a vast data base and the opportunity to receive necessary information on-line.

Within the same project framework a law clinic of Russian Academy of Justice will function. Anyone will receive free legal advice by student volunteers under the supervision of professional legal practitioners and high school teachers.

One of the means of raising legal awareness is conducting public lectures by professional lawyers. Everyone who wishes to improve knowledge of human rights and legal means of their protection is invited. The project program also involves lectures and trainings for professional lawyers and legal practitioners.

Initial lectures will be held on August 29 and September 5, 2013.
