On the International Day of Human Rights our colleagues from the World Organization Against Torture (OMCT) launched a flash mob during which they are telling about their partners – human rights organizations dealing with torture problems.

We would like to remind you that the Human Rights Day is celebrated on 10 December – on this day the General Assembly of the United Nations accepted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights – a milestone document, where inalienable rights are declared which are inherent to every man regardless of his race, skin color, gender, language, religion, political or other convictions, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

One of the reasons why the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was declared, was that negligence and contempt for human rights led to barbarous acts, the most horrible result of which became the Second World War.

This document became the result of coordination of various legal and cultural systems from different countries of the world, that is why the universal values and common measure of achievements of different peoples and all the countries are established in it.

The Declaration and the obligations for compliance with its principles, accepted by the member states, allowed protecting the dignity of millions of people and lying foundations for creation of a more just world.

Despite the fact that the promises set forth in the Declaration have not yet been realized fully, the mere fact that it stood the test of time, testifies the versatility of its enduring values – equality, justice and human dignity.
