Representatives of the NN Committee Against Torture – Dmitry Utukin and Olga Sadovskaya – are taking part in a three days’ meeting of participants of the project “Reparation for torture survivors:  Implementing the Newly Adopted Basic Principles and Guidelines on the Right to a Remedy and Reparation for Victims of Gross Violations of International Human Rights Law and Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law”. At the meeting the participants will draft a plan for a three years’ project and work out tools of protection and reparation for torture victims both on domestic and international levels. The project has been initiated by a British human rights NGO REDRESS (http://www.redress.org/), which has been cooperating with the NN Committee Against Torture for more than three years already. The REDRESS assisted us with the famous case of Mikheev representing the interests as a third party to the case. The initiated project will be implemented in Great Britain, Russia, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Peru and Sudan.
