The Prosecutor’s office asks the court to not to go beyond the suspended sentence

On January 28 the Tuymazinskiy district court of Bashkiria tried the case of Ruslan Tangayev. You may remember that the schoolboy and his parents applied to the Multiregional Committee against Torture claiming that Ruslan had been battered by local police officers in course of conflict between commercial parties arising from an argument about disputed property  when one of the parties that had connections in the local administration summoned law enforcement forces. In course of trial two indictees were questioned. As for the third indictee – businessman Mr. Zakirov – the proceedings against him were suspended because he disappeared. Besides, the court questioned 3 victims and 13 witnesses. On January 29 the parties conducted debates. The state prosecution demanded to sentence the accused – former district police officers Farrakhov and Gabdrakhmanov who were charged under art. 285, 286 of the RF Criminal Code – to 3 years 6 months of suspended sentence on 1-year probation.

The verdict will be delivered on February 4 at 2 p.m.
