Today head of the Orenburg office of the Committee against Torture Mr. Vyacheslav Dyundin met Head of the Orenburg regional court Mr. Viktor Yemelyanov. During the meeting they discussed the issues connected to escalation of tortures and violent treatment in the region, cooperation of human rights defenders with the judicial system in order to eliminate tortures. In course of the meeting Mr. Dyundin suggested that he could make a report on the problem of tortures at one of the coming sessions of the Judicial Council. Besides, the regional court chairman was presented the book“Sociology of violence. Arbitrariness of law enforcement bodies by the eyes of people” issued by the Committee against Torture and the documentary “Save Private Mikheyev” about a torture victim from Nizhny Novgorod shot by Moscow director Evgeniy Sumin.  

Presentation of the film took place in Orenburg on July 22 in the Garrison Officers’ House.
