Today at 11 a.m. the representatives of the prosecution office of Nizhegorodskiy region and fiscal authorities entered the central office of the Interregional Committee Against Torture in Nizhniy Novgorod for conducting an unplanned check of the activity and documentation of the organization.
At the moment the inspectors are studying financial documentation, grants’ documentation, reports about activities.
It should be mentioned that the representatives of the prosecution office didn’t show any valid order for conducting this check. Moreover, they refused to leave the office and insisted on breaking one of the safes.
It must be added that several days ago unmotivated and unplanned checks by the prosecution touched some of well-known russian organizations specializing in human rights.
There is no information about the time-limits of this check.
