According to Kavkazskiy Uzel,  on 20 November the Chechen population intends to conduct a protest action against police abuse in Achkhoy-Martan. The action participants will call on the authorities to put an end to the terror created by law enforcement agents.

One of the organizers of this public rally is Ruslan Kutayev, coordinator of the All-Russian public movement “Go ahead, Russia!” in the

North-Caucasian Federal Territory.

The staff of the Joint Mobile Group of Russian human rights NGOs working in Chechnya at the present moment and personnel of the Chechen representation of the Interregional Committee Against Torture are planning to take part in the rally.

The Chechen citizens apprehend that the district authorities and law enforces might prevent the protest on November 20 and intend to write a letter to president Dmitry Medevedev asking him to protect them from police abuse and arbitrary treatment.
