Lawyers with the Committee Against Torture prepared a review of the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights for 2012-2020 on the subject of “Issues of forced medical intervention and failure to provide medical assistance”.

The review features the practice of the European Court of Human Rights, involving such cases as forced medicamental impact on the person, forced catheterization, civil commitment, forced involvement of a patient in the research work, forced therapeutic abortion, as well as failure to provide adequate medical assistance at various circumstances.

This review will be useful for the lawyers who deal with submitting applications to the European Court of Human Rights with regard to violation of Article 3 of the The European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (“prohibition of torture”), judges, law-enforcement officers and the persons who are interested in human rights defense.
