On January 11, 2008 the Mariy El Supreme Court reviewed the cassation appeal of the RF Finance Ministry represented by the Federal Treasury Service of the Mariy El Republic that is sued for reparation of moral damages by Denis Darovskih. The Mariy El Supreme Court considered the statements of both parties and resolved that there were no grounds to cancel the first instance decision.  

We would like to remind you that on November 26, 2007 the Yoshka Ola city court obligedthe RF Finance Ministry to compensate moral damages amounting to 9 thousand rubles to Denis Darovskih who together with his friend Aplekayev had been savagely beaten by  policemen in December 2004.

The public investigation was carried out by the multiregional NGO Committee against Torture, the “Public Verdict” Foundation (Moscow) and regional public human rights organization “Man and Law”, all these organizations together managed to get a conviction for the police officers and promoted the verdict to compensate moral damages to  Denis Darovskih.
