Head of the Orenburg Regional Office of the NGO NN Committee Against Torture Vyacheslav Dyundin represents the interests of the mother, who was declared a victim during the pretrial investigation.

You may remember that according to the mother’s words, on 17 June 2006 Kanat Amirov was detained by Orsk law enforcement officers in his own house and taken to the ROVD. The following day at 8 a.m. the assistant duty officer of the Leninsky ROVD phoned her and asked her to come to take her son. When she came to the ROVD at about 8.30 a.m. she found her son lying on the floor in the cell opposite to the room where the officers on duty were.

She called for an ambulance. Doctors for half an hour tried to resuscitate him but all the efforts ware in vain – Kanat Amirov died.

On 22 June 2006 the Leninsky District Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal case in respect of K.S. Amirov’s death.
