The police officers from Dagestan, accused of torture, are released again from the Investigative Detention Facility and placed under house arrest

Today, on 6 April 2020, the Sovetsky District Court of the Republic of Dagestan changed the measure of restraint for two police officers, who are accused of forcing a local resident to confess of raping an underage neighbor girl.

Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigations of the Department of the Interior for the Khasavyurtsky District Ramazan Suleymanov and investigative officer Yusup Magomedov were released by the court ruling from the Investigative Detention Facility and placed under house arrest till 10 June 2020.
This court ruling will be appealed against by the lawyers with the Committee Against Torture representing the interests of the victim, as well as by the Prosecutor’s Office.
