Today the criminal panel of judges of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court has disposed of the appeal of Marina Andronova against the decision of the Pavlovo City Court to take her son Dmitry Andronov into custody as judicial restraint.
The Court agreed with the arguments of Ms. Andronova concerning the unlawfulness of the restraint and ruled to release minor Dmitry Andronov from custody.
Earlier lawyers of the NN Committee Against Torture, which were conducting an unofficial investigation into the matter, had concluded that the arrest of minor D. Andronov was ungrounded and caused by the desire of the law enforces from Pavlovo to take revenge on the minor and his family for their application concerning his cruel treatment to human rights defenders from the Committee.
You may remember that the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Prosecutor’s Office initiated criminal proceedings into the abuse of official power by the law enforcement officers from Pavlovo.
