As the NN Committee Against Torture has informed, on 28 February 2007 in the Parliament of the Chechen Republic the sitting of the Parliamentary Committee on Security was held where the Report of the Temporary Parliamentary Commission on the observance of rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of persons kept in temporary detention centers and remand prisons of the Chechen Republic was presented.

Today we call your attention to the text of the Report, given to us by a member of the Commission, head of the Chechen Office of the NGO NN Committee Against Torture Supyan Baskhanov.

The Temporary Parliamentary Commission on the observance of rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of persons kept in temporary detention centers and remand prisons of the Chechen Republic was established by the regulation of the Chechen Parliament of 22 May 2006. In addition to members of the Parliament and high officials of the Chechen Republic it includes representatives of human rights NGOs – the NN Committee Against Torture and the Memorial Human Rights Center.
