Today lawyers of the Chechnya office of the Committee against Torture got to know that the Russian Federation fulfilled its obligations towards Chechnya citizens Tamara Dushaeva and Yunus Usmanov by paying each 200 thousand rubles as compensation for moral damages incurred by homicide of their close relatives.
We would like to remind you that exactly due to the efforts of the Chechnya office of the Multiregional NGO “Committee against Torture” on April 6, 2006 the North-Caucasian court martial sentenced federal military forces officer Krivoshenok to 18 years in an increased security penal colony. The court also obliged the RF Defense Ministry to pay the victims 200 thousand rubles each as compensation.
The court found out that on November 16, 2005 about 7 p.m intelligence soldiers- privates and sergeants- contractors in Chechnya- stopped three cars on a village road. Being intoxicated the army people threatened people with weapon and made them come out of their cars. The soldiers searched and battered people, took away their money and cell phones. Then contractor Krivoshenok placed everyone facedown on the ground, took a knife and started stabbing Mr.Akhmadov on his head and body (experts found 12 cut-stab wounds on his body). Then Krivoshenok shot all the three detainees point-blank with a machine-gun.
Reparation of damages incurred by military people is one of the state major tasks provided for by the RF legislation and international treaties.
