12 September 2007

You may remember that the ground for Dmitry Andronov’s claim for non-pecuniary damage was that he had been unlawfully held in custody.

On 9 March 2007 the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court ruled to release Mr. Andronov from custody, however the administration of the detention facility refused to release the under age detainee, saying that it was the end of the working day. Dmitry Andronov was only released a day later.

As you may also know lawyers of the Committee Against Torture are representing the plaintiff and his relatives before the court. Besides, experts of the Committee are carrying out a public investigation into the Andnovs’ allegations concerning the use of torture in respect of the teenage boy by policemen and prosecution officials of the city of Pavlovo
